I bought those millinery books (early post) months ago and have been going through them and trying different techniques. I love the flat looking rosettes, there is so much you can do with them. I've got big plans for them. My mind is always crowded with inspiration & ideas. I love trying new things, as any of you who visit my store on a regular basis might notice. Here are two flowers I made.
It's cool that depending on the technique & fabric there are endless possibilities. I'm so inspired by the collections that are featured in these books. I made the cream silk dupioni rosettes using the "hatpin" rose technique. Apparently, in the 1920's women would make this flower to adorn their hats and secured it with a hatpin so they could change it to match their outfits. The olive green flower on this new cuff is a Flatbud. The masculine men's suit fabric is such a great contrast to the other feminine components. There are times when I just stare at the gorgeous vintage suit fabrics I was lucky enough to find. Part of me wants to hoard them, who knows if I'll ever come across them again!
I hope to add some other new items using the flowers to the shop soon! Have a great week, thanks for stopping by.

Those flowers are awesome!
